We often joke that cats secretly plan to “take over the world” — because of their calculating expressions, their sassy indifference, and the quiet power they seem to carry in such small bodies. Yet behind that playful image are fragile lives that depend entirely on human kindness.
Not everyone chooses kindness.
My is a small cat who endured unimaginable cruelty. Beaten so severely that he developed seizures, he was once thought unlikely to survive. But after nine months of devoted care from a young woman named T.Tr. and her mother, My has made slow, courageous progress — one shaky step at a time.
The Dark Days at Ba Dinh Market
My once wandered around Ba Dinh Market in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. During one attempt to find food, he was brutally attacked.
When he was found:
-
Blood was coming from his mouth and nose
-
His body was soiled with urine and feces
-
His wounds were infected and foul-smelling
-
He was extremely weak and barely responsive
He was tiny, injured, and close to death. Many believed he would not survive.
After receiving word about his condition, T.Tr. and her mother decided to take him home with one simple belief: as long as there is hope, you try.
Months of Seizures and Care
The recovery process was long and painful.
A veterinarian was invited to treat My at home. For the first month:
-
He suffered 4–5 seizures per day
-
Some seizures were so intense that he bit his own tongue
-
He could not eat on his own
-
He had no control over basic bodily functions
He had to be hand-fed. He received injections continuously for two months. Each day was uncertain.
Gradually, the seizures became less frequent. His body began responding to treatment.
Love as Medicine
T.Tr.’s household already cares for more than 20 rescued kittens. Milk replacer (KMR formula) is regularly prepared for the babies. My loves it too. Whenever he hears the others being fed, he tries to crawl closer to ask for some.
Despite financial pressure — caring for nearly 25 rescued cats is costly — My has never lacked affection.
Today, he is stronger:
-
His fur has grown back smoother
-
He has gained weight
-
His seizures are less frequent
He still cannot eat independently. In the mornings, he eats softened kibble porridge but must be fed by hand. In the evenings, he has rice with fish — again, with help.
Walking remains difficult. His legs are weak. He may fall after just one step. But whenever he hears his owner encouraging him, he gathers strength and tries again — simply to reach her arms.
A Moment That Touched Thousands
A video showing My wobbling forward, step by step, toward T.Tr. quickly gained over 350,000 views and thousands of shares online.
Many viewers expressed deep emotion:
-
“I hope he recovers soon.”
-
“How could anyone hurt such a small animal?”
-
“He’s lucky to have found someone who truly cares.”
-
“Thank you for giving him a chance to live.”
Not Just One Rescue
Beyond My, T.Tr.’s family has rescued nearly 25 abandoned and abused cats.
The financial burden is real. The daily effort is demanding. Yet they continue — because every life deserves a chance.
Why This Story Matters
My’s story is not only about cruelty. It is about resilience. It is about the quiet power of consistency, patience, and compassion.
His recovery is not dramatic. It is slow. Fragile. Ongoing.
But he is alive.
And sometimes, survival itself is the miracle.
All it takes is someone who refuses to give up.
