It’s been five years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from royal duties and began a new chapter in the United States. Since their move to Montecito, California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have built new careers, pursued media ventures, and raised their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Recently, a short video shared on social media sparked lively discussion among fans and followers. The clip, showing Meghan celebrating the Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, quickly gained traction online — but not all reactions were positive.
Meghan Markle’s Viral Dodgers Celebration
In early November 2025, Meghan Markle shared a black-and-white video clip on her Instagram Story celebrating the Dodgers’ win in the World Series. The brief clip showed her cheering enthusiastically as the Los Angeles team claimed victory, while Prince Harry, seated in the background, appeared calm and composed.
The post, initially meant as a lighthearted moment, was widely reshared by entertainment outlets, including JustJared.com, which confirmed the video appeared to have been filmed inside the couple’s Montecito home theater.
In the caption, Meghan expressed her excitement for her hometown team. As a Los Angeles native, the Duchess has long been supportive of Southern California’s sports culture, frequently attending events in and around the city since relocating from the UK.
Online Reactions to Meghan’s Video
While the video quickly went viral, reactions across social media were mixed. Some users praised Meghan’s playful spirit, noting that it was refreshing to see a candid moment from the Duchess and her husband. Others, however, criticized the clip, questioning whether it appeared “staged.”
Comments from a portion of viewers suggested that the setup — including the camera angle and editing — made the moment feel too polished for an impromptu celebration. Several online forums and social platforms hosted discussions comparing Meghan’s post to previous social media appearances by the couple, particularly in relation to their ongoing public image.
However, no credible evidence has indicated that the video was staged. The discussion primarily reflects divided opinions among social media users, a common occurrence for public figures in the digital age.
Meghan Markle’s Life in California
Since leaving official royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Harry have built a new life in the U.S., emphasizing independence, philanthropy, and creative ventures. The couple founded Archewell, a foundation dedicated to community service, mental health advocacy, and media projects that “uplift and unite” communities.
Living in Montecito, the pair have largely kept their personal life private, though they occasionally share glimpses through social media or public events. They are known to enjoy outdoor activities, family outings, and cultural events in the Los Angeles area — including sports games, concerts, and film premieres.
Their move to California marked a major lifestyle shift for the Duke, who had spent most of his life in the United Kingdom. In various interviews, Harry has spoken about adjusting to life in America and finding joy in its relaxed and family-oriented environment.
Prince Harry’s Connection to Canada and Baseball
Before settling in California, the couple briefly lived in Canada, where Meghan had filmed her television series Suits in Toronto for several years. During that time, Prince Harry developed an appreciation for Canadian culture and sports — including ice hockey and baseball.
Toronto’s baseball team, the Blue Jays, has long been a symbol of national pride in Canada, and it’s easy to imagine that Harry, who spent time there during the early days of his relationship with Meghan, maintains fond memories of the country.
The Dodgers’ World Series win against the Blue Jays, therefore, added a playful rivalry to the couple’s celebration — a lighthearted contrast between Harry’s Canadian ties and Meghan’s Los Angeles roots.
Public Scrutiny and the Sussexes’ Digital Presence
This latest viral moment highlights the ongoing scrutiny that surrounds Meghan and Harry’s public image. Since transitioning out of royal life, the couple has worked to manage their media presence carefully, balancing personal authenticity with public attention.
Experts in digital media note that celebrities often face disproportionate criticism online, particularly when sharing personal or family-related content. In Meghan’s case, any social media activity tends to draw widespread reactions — both supportive and critical — reflecting the intense interest that still surrounds the Sussexes.
According to media analysts, this phenomenon illustrates how modern audiences engage with public figures differently than in the past. Social media allows fans and critics alike to voice immediate opinions, often amplifying debates that might otherwise remain limited to entertainment news outlets.
Maintaining Positivity Amid Public Reactions
Despite the online debate surrounding the Dodgers celebration clip, Meghan and Harry have continued to focus on their professional and philanthropic efforts. The couple’s recent activities include charitable collaborations through the Archewell Foundation, speaking engagements on mental health awareness, and advocacy for social causes such as digital safety and gender equality.
Both have expressed, in previous interviews with outlets like Time and People, that they aim to prioritize positivity and mindfulness amid public scrutiny. Their media approach emphasizes authenticity and storytelling — principles that align with their production company, Archewell Productions, which has partnered with platforms like Netflix and Spotify in recent years.
Why Meghan’s Video Resonated with Fans
While the criticism drew attention, many fans saw the Dodgers clip as a glimpse into the couple’s normal, everyday life. It showed Meghan cheering passionately for her favorite team, while Harry displayed his typically reserved humor in the background — a dynamic that many found relatable and endearing.
The video also served as a reminder of Meghan’s connection to her California roots. Before marrying into the royal family, she grew up in Los Angeles and often spoke about her love of the city’s energy, creativity, and sense of community. Her enthusiasm for local teams fits naturally with that identity, and fans appreciated seeing her embrace it.
Balancing Privacy and Public Engagement
Public figures like Meghan and Harry continue to navigate the challenge of balancing personal privacy with the public’s fascination with their lives. Sharing occasional, lighthearted moments — such as the Dodgers video — may help them connect with fans while maintaining healthy boundaries.
For the Sussexes, each appearance is an opportunity to show who they are beyond their royal titles: two individuals building a modern, purpose-driven life focused on family, creativity, and community impact.
A Lighthearted Moment Amid Busy Lives
In the end, the Dodgers celebration video stands as a brief, joyful moment in Meghan and Harry’s otherwise busy year. Whether viewers found it genuine or overly polished, it sparked widespread conversation about how the couple shares their story with the world.
As they continue to balance family life with philanthropic and creative projects, moments like this — spontaneous or carefully planned — remind audiences that even global figures can enjoy the simple thrill of cheering for a favorite sports team.
