Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a high-profile appearance at Game 4 of the 2025 World Series at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, drawing widespread attention from fans and media alike. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, where the Dodgers fell 2–6 in a thrilling game watched by thousands of spectators.
While the couple’s attendance was celebrated by some as a lighthearted public outing, their placement in the stadium’s front-row seats sparked debate among baseball fans, including supporters of the Dodgers’ legendary players.
A Night at the 2025 World Series
According to coverage by BBC News and Reuters, Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan Markle, 44, attended the October 28 game wearing matching blue Dodgers caps and casual outfits. Cameras captured the couple enjoying the event, cheering for the home team, and engaging warmly with fellow attendees. The Major League Baseball (MLB) official Instagram account even shared a short video of the pair entering the stadium, captioned “royalty,” highlighting the significance of their attendance at one of the year’s biggest sporting events.
The Duke and Duchess have lived in California since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. Their occasional public appearances, especially at major cultural and sporting events, often attract global attention due to their international profile and ongoing philanthropic work.
Seating Controversy Draws Online Discussion
Shortly after the couple appeared on the stadium’s big screen, social media users began discussing the seating arrangements near the field. Some fans noticed that Dodgers part-owner Magic Johnson and baseball Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax were seated directly behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This sparked online conversation, with some fans suggesting that the iconic figures of baseball deserved front-row visibility during the event.
Broadcaster and baseball commentator Howie Rose, known for his work with the New York Mets, weighed in on social media, questioning why Koufax appeared to be sitting behind others near home plate. He noted, “Maybe those are his permanent, personal seats, but Sandy Koufax takes a back seat to no one—especially at Dodger Stadium.” His post drew thousands of reactions from baseball enthusiasts who echoed his respect for Koufax’s legacy.
Sandy Koufax’s Lasting Legacy
Sandy Koufax remains one of the most celebrated figures in baseball history. According to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and MLB historical archives, Koufax played 12 seasons with the Dodgers from 1955 to 1966, earning three Cy Young Awards and one National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) title in 1963. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972 at the age of 36, becoming the youngest player ever to receive the honor. His remarkable career and contributions to the sport have earned him immense respect among players and fans alike.
For many Dodgers supporters, Koufax’s enduring presence at home games represents a connection between the franchise’s storied past and its modern success. His visibility at events such as the World Series continues to symbolize the legacy of excellence associated with the Dodgers.
Mixed Fan Reactions Online
As with many celebrity appearances, reactions to Harry and Meghan’s attendance were mixed. Some fans praised the couple for participating in a beloved American pastime, calling their appearance a “fun date night” and celebrating their enthusiasm for the Dodgers. Social media users shared photos of the pair smiling and enjoying the game, noting that their presence highlighted Los Angeles’s growing reputation as a hub for international figures and cultural icons.
However, a subset of fans expressed disappointment over the seating arrangements, suggesting that baseball legends like Koufax and Johnson should have been given the most prominent spots near the field. It’s important to note that there is no official evidence that the Duke and Duchess requested or arranged their own seating placement, and no credible reports suggest that the couple was involved in organizing the seating chart.
Both MLB officials and Dodger Stadium representatives have not issued any statements addressing the seating controversy. As such, most of the criticism remains limited to fan discussions across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Reddit, reflecting differing opinions about celebrity visibility at major sporting events.
Other Celebrities in Attendance
The World Series is known for attracting high-profile attendees, and this year’s Game 4 was no exception. Alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, several other celebrities were seen in the stands, including LeBron James, Brad Pitt, and Sydney Sweeney. The event, broadcast internationally, was one of the most-watched games of the postseason and marked a significant cultural moment for Los Angeles sports fans.
Entertainment outlets such as People and Variety noted that Meghan and Harry’s presence added a touch of international attention to an already star-studded evening. Despite the online chatter, many attendees described the atmosphere as festive and spirited, with fans united in their passion for the game.
A Calm Response from the Couple
Following the event, Meghan Markle shared a photo on her verified Instagram account, showing her and Prince Harry smiling alongside Magic Johnson. The image received widespread positive engagement, with thousands of fans commenting on their joy and relaxed demeanor during the evening.
Neither Meghan nor Harry addressed the online criticism, and sources close to their team have not commented publicly. Their calm and composed presence at the game reflected their ongoing approach to maintaining positivity amid frequent public scrutiny — an approach consistent with their previous appearances in the United States.
Continuing Their Advocacy and Work
Beyond their public outings, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to focus on their charitable and media projects through the Archewell Foundation. The organization supports initiatives in mental health, digital safety, gender equality, and community service. According to official information available on archewell.com, the foundation partners with leading organizations to create positive social impact both in the United States and internationally.
Their ongoing work highlights their commitment to causes that align with their personal values, further establishing them as influential public figures in the global nonprofit and media space.
Public Life in California
Since moving to Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the couple has largely maintained a low public profile. However, appearances at cultural and sporting events — such as the World Series — allow them to connect with their community while balancing family life and philanthropic commitments.
Their attendance at the 2025 World Series reflected a continuation of this approach: engaging with local culture while remaining active on issues of global relevance through their professional and charitable work.
Conclusion
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attendance at Game 4 of the 2025 World Series offered a glimpse into their ongoing life in California, where they continue to balance public visibility with private family time. While the seating discussion generated spirited online debate, there is no evidence that the couple influenced any arrangements or were involved in decisions regarding other attendees.
For most fans, their presence underscored the growing intersection between sports, celebrity culture, and global media. As they continue to build their post-royal life in the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain figures of international interest — not only for their public appearances but also for their advocacy, leadership, and charitable work through the Archewell Foundation.
