Jennifer Lopez has built a remarkable career as one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world. With decades of success spanning music, film, and television, the global superstar has worked alongside some of Hollywood’s most iconic leading men. Over the years, Lopez has appeared in numerous romantic comedies and dramas that required memorable on-screen chemistry — including plenty of romantic scenes.
Recently, the award-winning actress and singer revealed which of her co-stars she considers her favorite on-screen kisser, and her choice might not be the one fans would expect.
Jennifer Lopez’s Versatile Hollywood Career
Born in 1969 in New York City, Jennifer Lopez began her career as a dancer before breaking into acting in the 1990s. Her role as Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 biopic Selena catapulted her to fame, earning her critical acclaim and marking her as one of the first Latina actresses to lead a major Hollywood film. From there, Lopez’s filmography expanded rapidly, including roles in romantic comedies, thrillers, and action movies.
Throughout her career, Lopez has starred opposite leading actors such as George Clooney (Out of Sight), Richard Gere (Shall We Dance?), Matthew McConaughey (The Wedding Planner), and Ralph Fiennes (Maid in Manhattan). Her ability to create believable romantic chemistry with her co-stars has become one of her trademarks, making her a frequent choice for romantic lead roles.
The Role of On-Screen Chemistry in Romantic Films
In romantic films, on-screen chemistry is essential. Kissing scenes often serve as key emotional moments that help audiences connect with characters and their relationships. For Lopez, who has spent much of her career starring in romantic comedies, these scenes have been a natural part of her acting work.
During an appearance on the talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on October 15, Lopez participated in the show’s well-known segment “Plead the Fifth.” In this segment, celebrities are asked revealing questions and can choose to either answer or “plead the fifth” to avoid responding. When asked to name her favorite on-screen kisser, Lopez decided to share her answer.
A List of Hollywood’s Leading Men
Before Lopez revealed her choice, host Andy Cohen ran through a list of some of the most notable actors she has worked with over the years. “We have George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Fiennes, Richard Gere, Owen Wilson, Josh Lucas — it goes on and on,” Cohen said, referring to the long list of romantic comedies and dramas Lopez has starred in. Many fans expected Lopez to pick one of these familiar names.
After all, her on-screen chemistry with George Clooney in Out of Sight (1998) remains a fan favorite, often cited as one of the most romantic pairings of the late 1990s. Similarly, The Wedding Planner (2001) with Matthew McConaughey and Maid in Manhattan (2002) with Ralph Fiennes are considered modern classics of the romantic comedy genre.
Jennifer Lopez Reveals Her Favorite On-Screen Kisser
Despite the impressive list of names, Lopez surprised viewers with her answer. She named Brett Goldstein as her favorite on-screen kisser. Goldstein, a British actor, comedian, and writer, is best known for his role as Roy Kent in the award-winning television series Ted Lasso. The show, which first aired in 2020, became a global hit and earned Goldstein multiple Emmy Awards for his performance.
Lopez and Goldstein recently worked together on a romantic comedy titled Office Romance. While the film has not yet been released, their collaboration on set appears to have made a strong impression. Lopez’s praise for Goldstein caught fans off guard, as he was not among the most well-known of her romantic co-stars prior to this announcement.
Who Is Brett Goldstein?
Brett Goldstein was born in Sutton, London, and began his career in stand-up comedy and theater before moving into television and film. His breakout role came with Ted Lasso, where he plays a gruff yet endearing footballer. Goldstein is also a writer on the series, contributing to its sharp humor and emotional depth.
In addition to acting and writing, Goldstein co-created the television series Shrinking for Apple TV+ alongside Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel. His work has earned him widespread critical acclaim, making him one of the standout talents in contemporary British comedy.
Starring alongside Jennifer Lopez in Office Romance represents a new chapter in Goldstein’s career, marking his entry into major Hollywood romantic comedies.
