Kelly Ripa Shares Heartwarming Family News: Youngest Son Joaquin Graduates from College
Kelly Ripa, beloved co-host of LIVE with Kelly and Mark, recently shared joyful news with fans about a major milestone in her family’s life. During a recent episode of the morning talk show, Ripa revealed that her youngest son, Joaquin Consuelos, is preparing to graduate from the University of Michigan — a proud and emotional moment for both parents.
A Family Milestone
“Our newborn baby is graduating in two weeks!” Ripa joked, playfully referring to Joaquin as the baby of the family despite his young adulthood. Fans quickly understood the sentiment, as Joaquin is the youngest of the three children Ripa shares with her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos.
The announcement sparked laughter and excitement, but also a wave of emotions. As any parent knows, the moment a child graduates and prepares to step into the next chapter of life is both rewarding and bittersweet.
Life in Ann Arbor
Ripa admitted that the family has grown attached to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Joaquin has been studying. She even joked that they weren’t “ready to leave yet” and confessed that they often encourage Joaquin to consider graduate school so they can continue their frequent visits.
Mark Consuelos joined in with lighthearted humor, suggesting that once Joaquin graduates, Kelly could enroll in classes herself. “You can go to school, and he won’t be weirded out by his mom in class,” he teased, prompting Ripa to imagine what she might study or whether she could even serve as an adjunct professor one day.
A Close-Knit Celebrity Family
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are known not only for their long-running careers in television but also for their strong family bond. Married since 1996, the couple has three children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
Michael, their eldest, is a graduate of New York University and has already started making his own mark in the entertainment industry. Lola recently finished college as well, leaving Joaquin as the last to complete his degree. For Ripa and Consuelos, this moment symbolizes the true beginning of their “empty nest” phase.
The Empty Nest Transition
Parents everywhere can relate to the mixed emotions of seeing their youngest child graduate. While it is a moment of immense pride, it can also feel like the end of a chapter in family life. Ripa and Consuelos have spoken candidly about this transition in previous interviews, admitting that while they are excited for their children’s futures, it’s also a big adjustment at home.
Still, fans know that Kelly’s sense of humor and Mark’s supportive nature will help them navigate this new stage with positivity and grace.
