In a deeply personal and heartfelt statement, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has provided a public update on the health of his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales. The announcement, shared via official royal channels including royal.uk, confirms that Princess Catherine continues to undergo treatment for a medical condition that remains undisclosed due to privacy considerations.
A Statement from Kensington Palace
Speaking from Kensington Palace, Prince William addressed a select audience and released a written statement shortly afterward. His message was subsequently reported by leading news organizations such as the BBC, Sky News, and The Guardian, who have all confirmed the authenticity of the announcement.
While Prince William did not reveal the specific nature of the condition—an intentional decision to maintain the Princess’s medical privacy—the statement acknowledged that her treatment plan is ongoing and is being overseen by trusted healthcare professionals.
Public Concern and Support
The announcement follows months of public concern regarding the Princess’s absence from official royal engagements. Since early 2024, Catherine has been seen less frequently in public, which led to increased interest and speculation. The royal household, however, has remained consistent in its approach to privacy, only sharing verified information at appropriate times.
Media outlets such as BBC News (source) and The Times have emphasized the importance of respecting the family’s privacy while acknowledging the public’s interest in the wellbeing of senior members of the royal family. Both the Royal Communications Office and Buckingham Palace have reiterated that any future health updates will come directly from official sources.
Message of Resilience and Gratitude
In his update, Prince William expressed heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of public support:
“We are deeply moved by the letters, prayers, and messages of kindness that continue to arrive from across the world. Catherine reads your words. They truly lift her spirit.”
This message underscores the strong bond between the royal family and the public—a relationship rooted in decades of shared national experience. The Prince’s tone was both solemn and hopeful, reinforcing the family’s strength and unity during what he described as “a challenging time.”
Family Focus
The Prince and Princess of Wales are the proud parents of three young children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Prince William confirmed that the couple is prioritizing the emotional well-being of their children while continuing to manage their royal duties.
“Our children are resilient, and they are being supported by those closest to us,” Prince William said. “We are doing everything we can to ensure they feel secure and loved.”
According to ITV Royal News and Sky News, the children remain in school and are engaged in their daily routines, with support from extended family members, including Carole and Michael Middleton, Catherine’s parents.
Transparency and the Royal Family
Commentators from reputable publications like The Telegraph and The Guardian have noted that this announcement represents a rare but meaningful moment of public transparency. Prince William’s open acknowledgment of the situation reflects a modernizing shift within the monarchy—one that respects tradition while recognizing the public’s emotional investment.
