King Charles Diagnosed With Cancer in February 2024
On February 5, 2024, Buckingham Palace issued an official statement confirming that King Charles III had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. The diagnosis came during treatment for a benign enlarged prostate, but the palace clarified that the cancer was not prostate cancer.
His Majesty began a course of outpatient treatment and was advised to postpone public engagements temporarily. He continues to carry out constitutional and official duties from home.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

The King’s Ongoing Recovery and Limited Appearances
Although he has scaled back on public engagements, King Charles has made limited public appearances since the announcement. One such event included attending Easter Sunday services at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in April 2024. His presence was seen as a symbol of reassurance and continuity.
Royal analysts note that these appearances align with medical advice and show that the King remains dedicated to service while prioritizing his health.
