Guy Ritchie’s stylish gangster drama The Gentlemen has become a major streaming success, with its first two seasons reportedly generating a combined 33.2 million viewing hours worldwide in a single week. Starring Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Vinnie Jones, the series blends aristocratic privilege, criminal empires and dangerous betrayals into one of Netflix’s most addictive crime stories.
Two Seasons Make Netflix’s Global Top 10
More than two years after its original debut, The Gentlemen continues to attract substantial audiences.
According to the reported Netflix figures for September 28 to October 4, 2026, both seasons appeared simultaneously on the platform’s global English-language television chart.
Season 2 secured sixth place with 21.8 million viewing hours and approximately 2.9 million views.
Meanwhile, Season 1 ranked ninth, recording another 11.4 million hours and 1.7 million views.
Combined, the two seasons accumulated an impressive 33.2 million viewing hours and 4.6 million views during the seven-day period.
The figures highlight the show’s ability to attract both returning viewers and newcomers discovering the story for the first time.
An Aristocrat Inherits More Than a Family Estate
The series follows Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, a former soldier who unexpectedly inherits his family’s enormous country estate.
But Eddie soon discovers that the property conceals a profitable underground cannabis operation.
What initially appears to be a problem he must escape gradually pulls him into an increasingly dangerous criminal world.
Kaya Scodelario plays Susie Glass, the intelligent and ruthless operator helping oversee the illicit business.
Her father, Bobby Glass, portrayed by Ray Winstone, remains a powerful figure within the organisation.
Meanwhile, Vinnie Jones plays Geoff Seacombe, the estate’s loyal gamekeeper, whose knowledge of the family and its secrets makes him a particularly intriguing character.
With Guy Ritchie’s signature blend of sharp dialogue, dark humour and unpredictable violence, the drama turns the British upper class into the unlikely centre of a sprawling criminal empire.
Season 2 Takes the Criminal Empire International
The second season, which premiered on September 3, 2026, raises the stakes considerably.
Eddie is no longer simply trying to protect his family’s estate.
Instead, he begins embracing his position within the criminal operation and pursuing opportunities to expand its influence.
The business moves beyond Britain, bringing Eddie and his associates into conflict with powerful international organisations, including the Italian mafia.
As the empire grows, so does the tension between Eddie and Susie.
Their partnership becomes increasingly complicated by conflicting ambitions, fragile alliances and concerns about loyalty.
Giancarlo Esposito also features in the new season, adding another recognisable name to the show’s ensemble.
The story builds towards a dramatic finale in which a devastating personal loss forces Eddie to confront the true cost of his choices.
By the conclusion, the reluctant aristocrat introduced in Season 1 has become a much more hardened figure.
Guy Ritchie’s Signature Style Keeps Viewers Hooked
One of the series’ biggest strengths is its distinctive combination of luxury and organised crime.
Elegant country houses, tailored suits and aristocratic traditions exist alongside ruthless gangsters, underground deals and dangerous power struggles.
The contrast gives The Gentlemen a tone that is both stylish and darkly entertaining.
Ritchie’s fast-paced storytelling and sharp exchanges between characters help make even complicated criminal negotiations compelling.
Theo James brings charisma and determination to Eddie, while Kaya Scodelario delivers a commanding performance as Susie.
Vinnie Jones provides a memorable supporting presence, bringing dry humour and understated menace to the role of Geoff.
Rather than relying solely on action, the series builds suspense through shifting loyalties and the constant possibility of betrayal.
Season 3 Already Confirmed
The show’s reported streaming performance follows Netflix’s decision to commission a third season.
According to the announcement cited in the report, Season 3 was officially ordered on August 23, 2026, before the second season premiered.
Guy Ritchie is expected to return as director and co-writer alongside Matthew Read.
The next instalment is planned to contain eight episodes.
Following the dramatic events of Season 2, the story is expected to explore the consequences of Eddie’s growing ambition and the increasingly fragile relationships within the criminal organisation.
With trust between the Horniman and Glass families under pressure, the battle for control could become even more dangerous.
Why The Gentlemen Is Worth Watching
For viewers who enjoy stylish British crime dramas, The Gentlemen offers an entertaining mixture of suspense, dark comedy and family conflict.
Its central appeal lies in watching an apparently respectable aristocrat become increasingly comfortable in a world he once wanted to escape.
Every deal carries risks, every alliance hides potential betrayal, and the line between family loyalty and personal ambition becomes increasingly blurred.
The combination of a strong ensemble cast, Guy Ritchie’s distinctive filmmaking style and escalating criminal rivalries makes the series particularly appealing for binge-watching.
With two seasons reportedly drawing more than 33 million viewing hours in a single week and a third season already commissioned, The Gentlemen shows no signs of slowing down.
And as Eddie Horniman’s empire grows, one question threatens to overshadow everything: how much of his old life will he sacrifice to remain at the top?
