Growing up in Los Angeles meant early exposure to the entertainment industry. Her portrayal of Kelly Bundy made her a household name. Although the character was often portrayed as comedic and exaggerated, Applegate has clarified in interviews that her real personality differed significantly from the on-screen role. The success of the show established her as a leading television talent at a young age.
Following the series’ conclusion in 1997, Applegate transitioned to other television roles, including starring in the sitcom Jesse, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
