Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, once among the most publicly recognized members of the British Royal Family, have lived largely outside the spotlight in recent years. Following a series of personal and legal challenges, particularly those involving Prince Andrew’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, the pair have adjusted to a quieter, more private existence. Today, their lives are shaped by separate routines, changing living arrangements, and a continued focus on their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Life at Royal Lodge: A Shared Residence With Separate Paths
Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park has long been the home of Prince Andrew. According to publicly documented information, he has held a long-term lease on the property since the early 2000s. Sarah Ferguson, although divorced from Andrew since 1996, has periodically lived at the residence with him over the years, a detail noted in reputable news sources such as BBC News, ITV, and The Guardian.
Reports from major UK outlets describe the property as a large, 30-room home that has served as a long-standing base for both parents as they supported their daughters through adulthood, marriages, and parenthood. However, neither the Palace nor the couple has publicly commented on the day-to-day atmosphere inside the residence, and many rumors about emotional strain or household dynamics are not substantiated by official sources.
Prince Andrew’s Status Following the 2022 Settlement
A major turning point in Andrew’s public role occurred in early 2022, when Buckingham Palace confirmed that he would no longer undertake public duties and would return his military affiliations and royal patronages. This announcement followed the widely covered civil case brought against him in the United States by Virginia Giuffre.
According to publicly available legal information, the case was resolved through an out-of-court settlement, which included a financial agreement and a donation to a charity supporting survivors. The settlement document made clear that there was no admission of liability.
This development significantly shaped Andrew’s public trajectory. Since then, major UK news organizations—including BBC, Sky News, and The Times—have consistently reported that he remains a non-working member of the Royal Family. As a result, his public appearances have been limited to family events, such as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, King Charles III’s coronation, and traditional holiday services.
Sarah Ferguson’s Public Role and Recent Health Updates
While Andrew stepped back from public life, Sarah Ferguson has maintained an active presence across charitable initiatives and public engagements. She is well known for her work with organizations focused on children, health, and humanitarian support.
In 2023 and 2024, she received significant media attention after publicly sharing her experiences with a breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Her openness and advocacy were widely covered by sources such as BBC News, People, and The Independent, helping to highlight the importance of early screening and continued health awareness.
Sarah Ferguson continues to participate in public events, literary projects, and charity work, and she remains a supportive figure in the lives of her daughters and grandchildren.
Reports of Potential Changes to Living Arrangements
In recent years, several reputable outlets, including The Telegraph, The Times, and BBC, have reported that Prince Andrew may eventually relocate from Royal Lodge due to long-term property plans overseen by King Charles III.
Some reports have noted discussions about a potential move to the smaller Frogmore Cottage, although Buckingham Palace has declined to comment publicly on private housing matters. Other stories about possible relocation to overseas residences or specific private estates have not been confirmed by official sources and remain speculative.
Regarding Sarah Ferguson, some media outlets have noted her close relationship with Princess Eugenie and her son-in-law Jack Brooksbank, who spend significant time in Portugal due to Jack’s business connections. While it has been reported that she visits the family abroad, there is no official confirmation that she is planning a permanent move.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie: Balancing Public Interest and Private Lives
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have continued to build independent careers and family lives while maintaining supportive ties to the Royal Family. Neither holds a full-time working royal role, and both have pursued careers in business and philanthropy.
-
Princess Beatrice works in the business and tech sector and participates in charitable advocacy, particularly around dyslexia awareness.
-
Princess Eugenie has worked in the art world and is involved in anti-trafficking and environmental initiatives.
Both sisters have been present at major royal occasions, including the Platinum Jubilee, the late Queen’s funeral, and King Charles III’s coronation.
Reputable outlets such as BBC News, Hello! Magazine, and The Guardian report that the sisters remain committed to supporting each other through changing family circumstances, though neither has made public statements about internal family matters.
How the Family Continues to Navigate Public Attention
Despite shifting circumstances, one consistent thread is the family’s commitment to privacy and stability for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Publicly available information indicates that both Andrew and Sarah have remained close to their daughters and have been present at important family milestones, from weddings to christenings.
Sarah Ferguson has spoken in interviews about the importance of maintaining strong family support systems. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew has continued to participate in family-oriented events that are not tied to public roles.
While media coverage often speculates about personal tensions or changes within the family, only information confirmed by reputable sources or official statements can be considered reliable. The Royal Family, as is customary, does not comment extensively on private matters.
