In a touching animal rescue story, a tiny puppy with bright purple fur has finally found a safe and loving home after suffering mistreatment.
A Shocking Discovery
When the puppy first arrived at Deity Animal Rescue in Los Angeles, staff members were stunned by his appearance.
The young dog, later named Benny, had fur dyed a vivid neon purple with what appeared to be a harmful substance.
While the unusual color immediately caught attention, the rescue team quickly realized the situation was more serious than it looked. Benny had scabbing on the tips of his ears and irritation in one eye, suggesting the dye may have caused chemical burns or discomfort.
According to rescuers, the puppy was only about six months old and possibly a mix between a dachshund and a Chihuahua.

A Gentle Puppy Despite His Pain
Despite everything he had been through, Benny showed a surprisingly gentle personality.
Ellen Ballon Dante, who helped care for him, said the puppy immediately cuddled into her arms when he arrived.
Although he seemed frightened and quiet at first, he quickly responded to affection.
Rescuers described him as calm, loving, and eager to trust humans again — something that deeply moved the team caring for him.
Medical Care and Recovery
Veterinarians began treating Benny right away. He received eye drops for irritation and several baths to remove the dye from his fur.
However, the purple color proved difficult to wash away. Even after multiple baths, the bright pigment remained visible on his coat.
Underneath the dye, rescuers eventually discovered his natural light tan fur starting to show through.
The exact reason someone dyed the puppy remains unknown. Rescuers believe someone may have done it simply for novelty without realizing the harm it could cause.

How Benny Was Rescued
Benny’s rescue began when a family found him and realized he needed help. They took him to a veterinarian for an initial examination and vaccinations.
Because they could not keep him permanently, a veterinary technician contacted Deity Animal Rescue, believing the organization would be able to provide specialized care.
The rescue group agreed to take him in immediately.

A New Beginning
As Benny recovered physically, his emotional healing was just as remarkable.
Rescuers said his trust in people never faded, and he continued seeking affection and comfort from those around him.
Soon after his recovery began, Benny found his forever home.
He was adopted by a woman who had previously adopted two other rescue dogs from Deity Animal Rescue, making her a perfect match for a puppy who needed patience and understanding.
In an unusual coincidence, the woman once had bright purple hair when she first began fostering animals — a detail that made the adoption feel even more fitting.

A Life Filled With Love
Today, Benny is thriving in his new home.
While some of the purple dye still remains in his coat, he is surrounded by care, safety, and companionship.
His story highlights the resilience animals often show even after difficult experiences and reminds people how powerful compassion can be.
