The message reopened old wounds. Overcome with emotion, Jose began scrolling through photos of Chaos saved on his computer — memories of a bond he feared was gone forever.

Shelter staff had traced the phone number connected to Chaos’ identification — and it led straight to Jose.
They told him they had found his dog.
